our mission
We're a 501(c)(3) student-led non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the sustainable development and growth of rural Indian communities.
RISHI represents Rural India Social & Health Improvement, yet our impact extends well beyond the name.
Guided by our core values of equal-stakes partnership, cultural responsibility, multifaceted intervention, and sustainability, we approach every initiative as a collaborative, evolving effort shaped by the priorities of the communities we serve.
Our work centers on collaborating with local stakeholders, understanding and addressing community issues through ongoing needs assessments, and prioritizing culturally responsible practices.
Here at UCLA, we have worked with Vadamanappakam, Tamil Nadu since our chapter’s founding in 2005. We also recently expanded our work to Attrambakkam, TN.
